Office heating made affordable: Case Study

Infra-Red case study:

My name is David Lawrie, I am the MD of A.L.E. business machines. 

“We operate from an industrial unit with the ground floor used as the warehouse and the first floor as the office. The heating for the office was a problem, we were having to use 3kw fan heaters as there was no other form of heating available, these heaters were on for approximately 4 hours of the day as the atmosphere became too dry and unpleasant for my staff and were also very expensive to run!

We investigated different forms of heating, our first tough was gas central heating but the cost of installing a gas supply and then the heating was prohibitive and the disruption to the office including breaking into the floor, etc. was too great!

We decided to use Infra-Red heating panels as these were offering a solution that was very easy to install, very comfortable heat, energy savings, and minimal disruption to our office staff. It was also financially a much more attractive option!

We were advised that we only needed one panel in the ceiling to heat the required area which is an office of approximately 30m2? The panel was supplied on time and fitted in approximately 1 hour and immediately switched on. The ISTC controller gives us the option to program the hours on and off including holidays etc. but we decided to run the panel with the ISTC set for a temperature that the staff find comfortable and then manually reduce the temperature for the night time period to a considerably lower temperature!

The result has been very good indeed. The temperature is maintained at exactly the level we require, the air condition is superb, my staff are very happy and the ladies have even noticed an improvement in their skin condition which is probably due to the improved air and no humidity!

I have received our first quarterly electricity bill since we installed the panel and although we have had this panel on for 24 hours a day our bill is slightly reduced from previous bills. In every aspect of our requirements, the Infra-Red panel has performed better than we believed possible!”
